The chain of transmission is used to demonstrate how infections (caused by microorganisms) are transmitted from one person to another.

The chain of transmission is composed of six links, Causative Agent, Reservoir, Portal of Exit, Mode of Transmission, Portal of Entry, and Susceptible Host.
